The King of Hearts…also known as the Suicide King…although he appears to me less suicidal than he is just plain old inept with a sword.

Where’s the tip of the sword?
June 28, 2008 at 7:19 pm |
In complying with centuries-old traditional design parameters for the King of Hearts, the tip of the blade is non-existent. Some historians believe this is because it was originally an axe that got converted into a sword over the years. This is what gives the illusion that the king is stabbing himself in the head, hence the nickname of “Suicide King”. I linked to an explanation in the original post.

IS THERE A JACK OF HEARTS WITH THE SAME CARTOON STYLE AS DESIGNING A TATTOO?

when you draw these things with ballpoint pen do you just scan them and then color them in?
July 20, 2009 at 1:39 pm |
This particular illustration was done in graphite, scanned in, and colored in PhotoShop. Other work on this site was done in the same way, while still others had color added to them by more traditional means (painting, colored pencil, etc.). I never know what tools I’m going to have on hand when the doodle urge hits me, hence the wide variety of media and techniques.

Hey did you do a design like this for the king of diamonds and king of clubs? it would be awesome if you had a set of all four kings.
