Was trying to track down some illustration files from early last year, came across these two editorial pieces, and realized I never posted them.
The first is a graphic representation of the prophet Elijah, with the detail image showing how I tried to include symbols on his coat that represented different moments in his life where he encountered God in a mighty way. The black feathers represent the ravens that fed him when he was hiding in the desert; the green leaves for when he heard God in the quiet rustling; and the flames for when God consumed Elijah’s offering in a firestorm to prove His might over the false god, Baal.
The second piece was about keeping a balance in the way we spend our time, avoiding getting caught up in busy-ness. (But I’m sure none of us ever have that problem. Right?)
The top piece is done in acrylics, while the bottom piece is watercolor and colored pencil.
