Was asked to take a different approach with this portrait. It’s going to be for an interview featured on the digital version of the In Touch magazine, and they wanted it to have a discernible technique difference from the portraits I do of the contributors for the printed version. So I thought “what the heck, have fun with it”.
Fun was indeed had. And they liked the end result. I was very pleased with the palette and the texture of the brushwork (hence the reason I included a detail of the finished piece). Hope to do some more in this style.

My latest book cover work for Tyndale House Publishing and author John Ortberg. You might recognize the bird from a previous post of mine.
The title is, of course, a play on the old Dr. Seuss book “Oh, The Places You’ll Go”, and refers to how God provides all of us with open doors and opportunities, but it’s up to us to choose which path we take. We went with a more playful style in keeping with the title’s mood.

Here’s a tease of my latest for the good folks at Tyndale House Publishers. The final piece will be a full-wrap dust jacket illustration, done in my digital scratchboard style. I’ll try and remember to post the complete spread later.

Here are the next three cover illustrations for the Duck Commander kids’ book series I posted about earlier. These will be placed in the same cover format as the first “outhouse time machine” image. I can’t wait to see these in print!

Here is the first cover in a series of books I’m illustrating for the good folks over at Tyndale House Publishing. They have teamed up with the “Duck Dynasty” family to publish four fictional adventure stories aimed at young readers. I’ll be providing covers as well as interior illustrations.
These have been an absolute blast to work on, and I don’t think I’ve ever worked with a nicer group of people.
Here’s a link to the press release:

(Incidentally, this is the first time EVER I have used the tag “outhouses” for a blog post, so it’s sort of like you are witnessing history here!)

These are from a series I’m working on for the good folks at Green E-books. They are releasing the works of the great Southern humorist Lewis Grizzard in electronic book form, and I’ve had the privilege of interpreting the titles of several of the books into illustrations.
