GAME DOODLE: Road Trippin’ and Lid Flippin’

Clown and Pony Show-small

My kids and I play this game where each of us makes numbered lists- two of adjectives and one of nouns- and then the other players call out random numbers. Whatever adjectives and noun we hit are what we have to doodle. I drew a doubleheader (one from my son’s list and one from my daughter’s) and my subjects were “happy screaming horse” and “mad scary clown”, hence the jolly little joyride you see before you.

MEETING DOODLE: You want studly? ‘Cause he’s bringing the studly, baby!

Pure Stud Muffin SMALL

Lucius had always considered himself quite the chick magnet, but felt his new ponytail really amped up the swoon factor.

MEETING DOODLE: Spaz Man and the Incomplete, Backwards-flying Zebra!

spaz man zebra SMALL

Yet another doodle that was inspired by a conversation with my kids. The zebra’s flight is propelled by nose jets, but I didn’t properly plan the placement of the doodle on the paper, so- unfortunately- his nostril rockets are not represented here in all their glory. The failure to include them is truly one of the saddest moments in my artistic career.

MEETING DOODLE: Compliment my capello!

Like my hat SMALL

Other than baseball caps, I’ve never been much of one for hats. So I find it interesting that they seem to feature prominently in so many of my doodles. Some sort of subconscious fedora fixation, I guess.

MEETING DOODLE: They’re impatient little cusses sometimes

Apparently I was taking too long to doodle him. I told him he had better lighten up or I was going to erase that scowl right of his face, but he just kept on. As you can see, he won the standoff.

To be honest, I’m a little intimidated by him.

NOT A DOODLE: T-Rex in a Teryx!

TERYX PRO PATCH small

One of my latest pieces. This was done for the Kawasaki corporation to be used on technical training collateral materials relating to their awesome Teryx side-by-side all-terrain vehicles.

The bad thing about doing this piece is- now I want to drive one of these suckers!

Only, without the T-rex. Off-road driving is already challenging enough; I can’t imagine attempting it while a large predator is trying to eat your head.

MEETING DOODLE: Can’t we all just get along?

Try as I might, sometimes it seems almost impossible to maintain harmony among the doodles in my head.
