No dialogue in a speech bubble this time… but does there really need to be?

A Self-Assigned Doodle Project with a Purpose: Variations on “What?”

September 20, 2016

I’ve never actually done this, so you’re witnessing awkward doodling history here. I have decided to assign myself the task of filling up a small notebook with doodles all based around a single central theme.

I chose “what?”.

So I’m going to make myself rein in the random a bit (although not too much) and focus on that one word as my initial inspiration. I’ll be posting them as I go. Some may be obvious, and some you might have to look at for a moment to see the tie-in. But it’ll be there…. honest.

Once the notebook is filled, I’m looking¬†into ways to auction off the finished piece, with the proceeds going towards building a fund to buy our church a new passenger van. (Believe me, they need it. The one we have now is held together with dirt and prayer!) I know it won’t bring in a lot, but- hey- it’s a start.

And I want you guys to keep me honest. If you notice I haven’t posted at least one a week, you have my permission to give me tons of grief.

Sooo…..off we go!

MEETING DOODLES: Seerusly?

I’m especially liking the little dark creatures at the bottom center of the second doodle page. They just look so confused about where they are.

DOODLE: Speed Doodling. It’s a full-contact sport.

hello dere SMALLThis doodle was a “brain flusher”. Just a quickie to warm up for the real work of the day. Think it took me about ten minutes, tops, from the time the pen hit the paper to the last watercolor stroke.

MEETING DOODLE: Compliment my capello!

Like my hat SMALL

Other than baseball caps, I’ve never been much of one for hats. So I find it interesting that they seem to feature prominently in so many of my doodles. Some sort of subconscious fedora fixation, I guess.
